AmeriSave Mortgage 2026 Review: The Rate Beats the Brand

AmeriSave doesn't run Super Bowl ads. They do consistently rank in the top three on rate for conventional refis. Here's the catch.

What we liked

  • Aggressive on rate, especially 760+ FICO — Their 2026 rate engine has been within 0.05 of Better's headline rate eight weeks running.
  • Real loan officers, not bots — When you call, you get a person. Most borrowers stay with the same LO through close.
  • Decent jumbo desk — Up to $3M with portfolio underwriting on case-by-case for self-employed borrowers.

What could be better

  • !Underwriting can stall on complex files — 1099 borrowers report longer-than-average back-and-forth on document requests.
  • !App is dated — The portal works but feels like 2018. If the experience matters to you, look at Rocket or Better.
  • !Closing-cost credits are smaller than competitors — Better offers larger lender credits at the same rate — worth running the math both ways.

The setup

AmeriSave keeps showing up in the top of our spreadsheet for 30-yr fixed conventional refi, and after pulling fresh quotes against the same control file three weeks running, the pattern is clear. AmeriSave is the rate that competitors quietly match — they just don't get the credit publicly because the brand is thinner.

How we pulled the numbers

This is a controlled scenario: $425,000 30-yr fixed conventional refi on a single-family in Florida, owner-occupied, 70% LTV, 760 FICO. Quotes captured March 25–31, 2026. We requested formal Loan Estimates wherever a lender would issue one, and used published rate sheets where they would not.

Side-by-side rate comparison

Lender Rate APR Lender Fees Notes
AmeriSave 6.27% 6.36% $1,495 LO assigned
Better 6.25% 6.31% $0 All-online
NBKC 6.30% 6.34% $595 CU pricing
Wells Fargo 6.65% 6.78% $2,495 Bank channel

On this representative scenario, the spread between best and worst APR is 0.42 APR points — which compounds into roughly $31,600 over the life of a 30-year loan. Your numbers will not match ours exactly. The pattern, however, is what to watch.

Where AmeriSave actually wins

  1. Aggressive on rate, especially 760+ FICO — Their 2026 rate engine has been within 0.05 of Better's headline rate eight weeks running.

  2. Real loan officers, not bots — When you call, you get a person. Most borrowers stay with the same LO through close.

  3. Decent jumbo desk — Up to $3M with portfolio underwriting on case-by-case for self-employed borrowers.

Where it quietly costs you

  1. Underwriting can stall on complex files — 1099 borrowers report longer-than-average back-and-forth on document requests.

  2. App is dated — The portal works but feels like 2018. If the experience matters to you, look at Rocket or Better.

  3. Closing-cost credits are smaller than competitors — Better offers larger lender credits at the same rate — worth running the math both ways.

Verdict

Nobody refinances on a single quote. AmeriSave should be in your shortlist if your scenario lines up with what they price aggressively. If it doesn't, the spread to the right specialist lender is real money.

Article skips over the appraisal-waiver criteria. AmeriSave pulled mine despite a strong AVM read — added two weeks.

Confirming the broker-channel quote was 0.125 lower than the retail website for the same scenario. Worth shopping.

Lock-and-shop saved me 0.375 between Wed and Fri. Wish more lenders offered it.

HELOC vs cash-out: we ran the numbers exactly like you did. HELOC won at our LTV but rates have to drop for it to stay there.

Doctor loan section nailed it. AmeriSave treated my 1099 income better than two banks I'd worked with previously.
